Research and professional interests

Dr. Brett Garland is the director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Missouri State University. Prior to this role, he served as graduate program director and has coordinated certificates on criminal investigations, terrorism and national security, and community corrections. He has published articles and book chapters on stress and burnout in criminal justice, behavioral strategies in correctional settings, prisoner reentry, and public opinion on crime and justice. Dr. Garland formerly served as a prison pre-release coordinator and as a juvenile service specialist.
