Criminal Courts Undergraduate Certificate

The certificate is designed for students interested in pursuing criminal justice careers that involve the court system, such as court reporters, docket clerks, court clerks, legal assistants, paralegals, prosecutors, public defenders, judges, bailiffs, case administrators, victim advocates, and court administrators. The curriculum provides an in-depth look into the basic principles, processes, personnel, and structures found in courts in the United States and Missouri. Students will also examine the U.S. Supreme Court and its landmark decisions related to courts, such as right to counsel, right to a speedy trial, and right to confront witnesses in court.
