Dr. Karl Kunkel Office: 462 Strong Hall Dr. Kunkel received a Ph.D. in Sociology, with an emphasis in social control, deviance, and crime, from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1989, and has been a member of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at Missouri State since 1994, currently holding the rank of Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Dr. Kunkel's interests reside in the study of courts and prisons, criminal justice policy, and inequality in the justice system. From August 1996 - June 2003, he served as Coordinator of the Crime and Society Program (the predecessor to the Criminology Program). Dr. Kunkel received a Missouri State University Award for Teaching in both 1998 and 2003, along with a College Award for Service in 2000. His recent publications are in Teaching Sociology, Free Inquiry in Creative Sociology, The Journal of Criminal Justice Education, and The Encyclopedia of Prisons and Correctional Facilities |
